"REBIRTH" PRESS RELEASE Vibrant Visions of Contemporary Expressionist - Raphael Labro Amongst neolithic temples, the landscape blazes with sumptuous reds and highlights the burning gold, so there, crouches a primordial Goddess Being in distilled concentration - the serene moment before her rebirth, resonant in graceful colour of Hagar Qim. "Tellus The Mother Earth" Naked limbs and bald scalp bear the ancient symbols of wisdom as old as creation. The works of this exhibition demonstrate the poetic spirit of the artist. The Works allow us to retrace our ancient civilizations, those special civilizations that passed into oblivion 1000's and 1000's of years ago. Labro favours the feminine symbol. Fittingly the Mother Earth as a spiritual goddess. Femininity, a being that embodies all of creation in multi dimensions. His artistic journey spans from Cosmic Expressionism, Surrealist Galactic Art to ancient primal themes. Labro's latest abstract work tells of a future that is here and now. We exist within this, and are only recently becoming aware of the changes going on around us. "REBIRTH" touches on the experiences of inner emotion bringing abstract into crystal clear focus. When asked to comment on the uniqueness of his work, Labro answered with: "I am simply fascinated by ancient civilizations, and we are living in an archaeological paradise where Codex has still to be rediscovered. Look at the Goddesses and Temples which are actually about 27000 years old, and this ancient civilization has left only stones, no wood carvings or paintings or bones nor anything else ... The Temple People were in fact a powerful society with greater knowledge than we have today. They vanished during the last major climate change about 20-25000 years ago. The alignment of the temples are not only perfectly adjusted to the Sun and the Moon, based on equinoxes and solstices, but also relevant are the Pleiadians Spiral Constellation, which actually takes the Sun 26 thousand years to orbit around Alcyone, and so, they are the remains of the Sacred Architecture." Each painting offers the audience an unforgettable journey that transcends from the past into the future to experience what the Artist calls "The Rebirth of The Earth Goddess." "Let's assist in looking after our planet earth and recognize that our future generations will also need air and water" Labro explains. "People today are not thinking in sync with nature. Labro expresses awareness that the planet needs us to think logically about how to ensure the next generation will be provided with air and water. Reforest the land, trees are needed for the soil in order to encourage the water cycle." Labro born 1956 in France has traveled the planet via Paris, Hamburg, Los Angeles, Sydney, Tokyo and Cape Town on what he calls a quest to expand the conscious awareness of human beings to a reality not bound by TIME and SPACE. The "REBIRTH" exhibition at Sinclair Stevenson Gallery, 59 Trux Street, Gharb GH102, Gozo, Malta (+356 2156 2074) is from 4th August till 22nd September 2007. Exhibitions to fund the Charity : "Friends of the Sick and Eldery in Gozo" and "Gozo Forestis Project" to plant trees with Gozitan school children, and holiday-making children in green areas. For Labro it is important to give something back to Gozo and there he will help a Fundraising Project. Labro will contribute 20% of any funds raised to the Friends of the Sick and Elderly in Gozo and 5% to afforest projects through Forestis and/or 34 Gharb - since it is important to him to ensure the right environment for his children and the children of Gozo and Malta.
